Maryland’s first glamping domes have opened at the newly renovated Bumblebee RV Park and Campground at Deep Creek Lake. The geodesic domes are surrounded by lush greenery and the sounds of nature, perfect for a unique summer getaway.
So, what is glamping? Glamping is a more polished version of camping that usually involves amenities like internet access, kitchens and sometimes cabins or, in this case, domed sleeping quarters. Glamping is a great alternative for those who want to connect with nature but don't want to sleep on the ground or deal with bugs.
The Beehive domes at the Bumblebee campsite are equipped with queen-size beds, a full kitchen, a private bathroom, and a personal sauna. Each dome can accommodate about three to four people.
The domes are open each year between April and November. They have floor-to-ceiling windows that provide ideal views for stargazers. Each dome also includes wifi, an AC and heating unit, and a fully stocked kitchen with cookware and a microwave.
The Bumblebee campsite currently has seven glamping domes, and a stay will cost you about $300 per night. Military and medical personnel can take advantage of discounts.
